Before & After
English Sterling Card Case

This case came to me with additions to the original piece that had to be removed. The cartouche was added with the new owner's initials, covering whatever was underneath. The image to the right shows a sterling wire I welded to the cartouche for its removal. Heat was applied and the piece was lifted straight up, eliminating the possibility of the lead solder from spreading across the case's surface.

Jump rings attached to added side panels tranformed the piece into a hanging case to be worn around the neck. These also had to be removed to restore the piece to its original condition.

Exposed lead solder and engraving under the cartouche...

Below is the finished case with jump rings, dents, and lead solder removed from the engraving. The piece was hand polished then wax-protected. The inscription reads: Friendships Offering Miss Julia A. Jones.

Scene on the back of the case...

The actual Blackrock Castle in Cork Ireland...
